An archetypical and stoic storage furniture is broken down into three mobile volumes that nest into each other. Solid panels are replaced by bands of flexible fabric not only as a textural pleated surface treatment but also pragmatically; the storage volume can be accessed from all sides and through any point.
Being mobile, the individual cabinets can be deployed to where it is needed in the domestic landscape or re-arranged as a group, providing the most desired configuration.
Fragmented cabinet won the: Wonder Design Award, RIMA Editrice Young e Design 2010.
Fragmented 02
Contemporary urban dwellings demand space to be used smartly. Fragmented 02 is a considered dual-purpose furniture whose agile identity is activated by the environment the user moves and places it in. Using it becomes a tactile experience of running fingers over its richly pleated surface and stretching the opening to access the storage.
When not being used as occasional seating, the modules can be stacked to form a multi-tiered storage. Aesthetically, the neutral steel structure disappears in space to float the graduating blocks of textured colour.
As a product system, the lycra covers are interchangeable and sets of colours can be decided for different markets and seasons.
